This meeting included an overview of updates related to the implementation of the Gateway Master Plan. The presentation included a review of the draft Planning and Design Guiding Principles included in the Plan, and an overview and discussion of the draft Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the local governments and Forward Pinellas.

Study Management Team (SMT), Stakeholder, and Public Workshops
November 13th - 15th, 2018
The meeting began with a brief presentation from the consultant team, followed by a an interactive workshop where participants shared their experiences as Gateway area stakeholders and provided their feedback on the framework developed by the core team.
Stakeholders commented on the importance of having a grand vision for the area to guide incremental investment. Projects such as future circulators or road connections will benefit from the framework developed during this process. Discussion also addressed the need for the plan to incorporate a strong environmental framework to address water quality and stormwater issues. The area adjacent to the Cross-Bayou Canal is of particular importance.
WRT hosted a charrette with the SMT and three public workshops in Pinellas Park, St. Petersburg, and Largo as well as a number of one-on-one conversations.
Study Management Team (SMT) Charrette #2 & Small Group Meetings
July 24th 2018
The project team and partners gave a brief presentation to kick-off the charrette. The presentation provided an overview of the planning process to date as well as key findings from the existing conditions analysis.
Following the presentation, WRT led the group through a facilitated discussion focused on receiving input to further refine the Planning and Design Principles, Sub Area Selection Criteria, and to identify focus areas for more detailed planning and design. All presentation materials were shared with the project partners via email and stakeholders were given two weeks after the session to review and provide additional input to the planning and design team.
The WRT team conducted four small group meetings with the Sunset Palms Neighborhood, the Council of Neighborhood Associations, the Riviera Bay community, and the High Point Neighborhood to gather additional information about community concerns and needs.
Public Open House 1
May 10th 2018
The project team and partners gave a short presentation to kick-off the first public meeting. The presentation provided an overview of the project goals and partners and existing conditions. Existing conditions research included market highlights, physical character areas, susceptibility, context and character, and resiliency.
The final portion of the meeting was an interactive open house with 4 stations organized around the topics of visioning and identity, quality of life, connectivity, and resiliency. The following pages contain the original boards as well as the responses the project team received from community members, agency partners, and stakeholders. In addition to the WRT led Planning and Design Team, FDOT consultants were present at the Open House at stations presenting the Gateway Intermodal Center Study, Gateway express, and US-19 Corridor Studies.
Project Kick-Off + Study Area Issues & Opportunities Charrette
March 7th & 8th 2018
The WRT-led planning and design team held a two day project Kick-Off and Study Area Issues and Opportunities Charrette with Forward Pinellas and agency partners with the goal of confirming the goals and parameters of the project, and understanding the challenges and aspirations for the master plan.
